Dr David Owen's reply to Sean Bryson's protest letter at the 1991 Gulf War |

My protest letter at the 1991 Gulf War is where my political journey started. Prior to this I was not a political person at all. The first political party that I belonged to was the Liberal Democrats, I joined in 1994. A couple of days after the 911 attack, when after what I had warned against had come to pass, I joined the BNP - British National Party.

1991 Gulf War - Dr David Owen MP THE RT HON DR DAVID OWEN MP Sean Bryson 1 March 1991 Dear Mr Bryson Thank you for your letter which I have read with interest. Now that Iraqi forces have been ousted from Kuwait we must look carefully at a number of problems in region, not least of which is the Palestinian problem. Whilst I can appreciate your feelings on this matter, I am convinced that there is little point in disputing the desirability of the existance of a Jewish State in Israel. That state exists and will continue to do so. Any policy towards the Middle East must take that one basic fact as a starting point. Thank you for writing. Yours Sincerely DAVID OWEN
